It’s been a couple years since I’ve photographed a first birthday party!  So I figured I’d sit on my bum a bit longer and post these images while they’re fresh! …Good images tell stories Just learned to walk and you have to get the belly out far enough in front to balance properly – haahaaaa! A moment of closure

A moment of closure

What is a moment? What is artistic photography? So many brides come to me and their first question is how many hours, when I ask myself how many moments?  Brides ask how many pictures, and I ask myself how many of my pictures, can change your expectations of pictures, teach you about the wondrous human [...]

Chris and Rome’s engagement portraits in NoDa

One peck – carefully observed

One peck – carefully observed

A tender, encouraging kiss from the bride’s father – moments before she walks down the isle – is not something you can buy, but it’s something I deliver for my clients. I can’t sell you this picture – because it’s one of a kind. But, you can be sure that I will be looking out for these moments you can’t buy as I shoot your wedding photography. I try my best to tenderly observe all these moments that are yours, to make them immortal in the images. When my clients ask “What is a wedding photojournalist?” my best answer is that they are interested in “One Moment” and it shows in all the pictures.

Why I’m a wedding photographer | finding spaces and places

Why I’m a wedding photographer | finding spaces and places

question I often hear from brides is ” Have you ever been to the ________ before” and while I’ve photographed over 250 weddings in a 10 year career as of this writing; my career has evolved to a wildly decentralized clientele. And I like that, I appreciate that, and I rise to the challenge of exploring new locations every time I go out to shoot. I explain how my internal psyche and temperament make it good for me, but let me expound on a few of the tricks where the video left off with this image:

What a relationship looks like: grandparents

What a relationship looks like: grandparents

What does a relationship look like? It’s a theme we blog about as we observe love being made real in the ceremonies and events that we photograph.  Today’s theme is about grandparents. And hugs. I suppose that the quality of the hug is a nice visual clue as to the quality of the relationship, and [...]

Why am I made to be a good wedding photographer?
A few of the answers might be endurance, for working 12+ hour days: Drive, to find unique moments every time – deal with new environments each wedding – and zest to grab life by the horns and ride. Most people like a steady job, with usual, predictable tasks – unfortunately I’m not made like that….or fortunately for you, I’ve found my niche and calling to marry the low attention span with high levels of challenge in a job that forces me to be my best – every time. It’s wild fun and I love that I’m perfectly made for it!
