I have a confession to make. Mel was my roommate in college. It’s pretty obvious why I picked her; she’s beautiful! Yes, I am very superficial. Unfortunately she is in love with Andy, and not me. I used to sing to her and everything! But try as I might she still fell for Andy, and together they have created a beautiful life.
So we left their sweet children with grandma and went out to play! These pictures were taken by Lake Norman in North Carolina.

Some fun by Lake Norman, NC!

I love witnessing the daily routine of families. These images were taken near Charlotte, NC as part of a family lifestyle session.
I asked permission to sneak in and take a peak at the boys toward the end of their naps (Mia is a light sleeper, so I just waited for her to wake). Can you believe how fortunate I am? I was able to witness this!
Micah rolled over when he heard my shutter click. I said, “oh, did you have a good rest?” He touched his lip and said, “yes.” Then he rolled over and went back to sleep!

But Noah, he would not wake!

Mia wipes a tear from her face as she prepares to face the rest of the day with a heart full of courage!

How do you let a photographer into your life for a day? Can they capture the reality of your life? I feel like I am the type of person who can blend into any situation without causing too many ripples in the water. Kids appreciate that, I think. I shot this set of family lifestyle images in Mooresville, NC which is right by Lake Norman. A really beautiful area!
Here is the first thing I saw in the morning, such a peaceful scene. The boys play until Mel, their mother, gets their breakfast ready.

A quick high five and joke about my crazy name, I hop on the floor and they let me in their lives. Kids are amazing.

In fact, here is my invitation to be Noah’s new best friend!

Goodness sakes it was time for a haircut. And in a most urgent way, as I am traveling next week and need to make a good impression. The following photo shows the impression I was not intent on making!
