Eben’s 10th birthday party at Discovery Place

Eben decided to join the circus and walk the tightwire for his birthday!

The boys all got to try the various aparatus - but Eben got a big candle to light for his birthday.

Eben held the candle to a nice balloon filled with Hydrogen from the Einstein’s corner demonstration.

The boys thought it so cool that I could capture the explosion with my camera that I thought I’d offer them this:

The last bang had Magnesium in it for an extra sparkle!

Boy oh - we have a 10 year old now.  All my clients that have been thinking about buying an album now’s the time so we can start that college savings program!

Barker Family Part II - Post Nap Production.

I love witnessing the daily routine of families. These images were taken near Charlotte, NC as part of a family lifestyle session.

I asked permission to sneak in and take a peak at the boys toward the end of their naps (Mia is a light sleeper, so I just waited for her to wake). Can you believe how fortunate I am? I was able to witness this!

Micah rolled over when he heard my shutter click. I said, “oh, did you have a good rest?” He touched his lip and said, “yes.” Then he rolled over and went back to sleep!

But Noah, he would not wake!

Day in the Life of the Barker Family - Pre Nap Time.

How do you let a photographer into your life for a day? Can they capture the reality of your life? I feel like I am the type of person who can blend into any situation without causing too many ripples in the water. Kids appreciate that, I think. I shot this set of family lifestyle images in Mooresville, NC which is right by Lake Norman. A really beautiful area!

Here is the first thing I saw in the morning, such a peaceful scene. The boys play until Mel, their mother, gets their breakfast ready.

A quick high five and joke about my crazy name, I hop on the floor and they let me in their lives. Kids are amazing.

An unforgettable toast, makes a reception

Ok - I love stories like this, and I hope the video guy got good audio on this….
Father toasts
So Scott’s dad is giving the toast, and he starts slowing down - saying “I was thinking I would try and find one word that would best describe my son.”
So naturally everyone is one the edge of their seat, as he’s really taking a while - like he’s lost his idea - but then he spits it out: GRAND. Ok, so why draw it out….then he follows up with “I’ve always thought of my son as a graaaand son.” and with that I’d like to present the new couple with this gift; and he pulls out a wrapped box. Beth and Scott unwrap it facing them…and everyone wants to know what was in the box….

Grandson gift
And so Scott & Beth are cajoled by the audience into showing the gift to everyone
Father affection
So amid rolling guffaws, cheers and jeers - dad brings his point home!
