Bloggers Unite For Human Rights: Today
I would like to forward you to my personal ‘tracker’ for human rights. The organization is called The Voice of the Martyrs, and they track violence with first names. As Americans we are blessed with so many rights that it’s actually hard to understand when someone is discriminated against. Especially when we try to comprehend something like Darfur where as many as 2.5 million people have been abused.
In order to understand violence, and evil - I think we have to understand it one story at a time. Just like we need to understand one wedding story at a time to experience it’s richness. We need to lift our souls in prayer for those whose lives are violated and The Voice of the Martyrs can help us do that with their daily news, email subscriptions and the stories behind the events that help us understand what drives the violence and abuses. I hope these stories help you find an outlet to give, and understand our place in the world.

Thanks for dropping by POGB and message of solidarity on Bloggers Unite for Human Rights. Let the tyrant perpetrators know that there are people like you and the rest of the participants in this worthy cause that we are watching and as bloggers we intend to make a difference.

Sadly I don’t believe any country is free of the abuse of Human Rights.
What a wonderful career you have, always photographing people on the happiest day of their lives, I do envy you. Very nice website as well

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I am familiar with voice of the martyrs because I listen to a radio station that broadcasts updates from their website. We are spoiled in the USA for the most part, although some will argue with me. There are still lots of opportunities here. It is nice to see someone else familiar with it sharing a comment on my blog.

We sadly forget in our daily lives that we are all human and members of the same planet. Human rights is such a basic concept that it is easily taken for granted. Everytime I have done a story on the homeless, working poor or disenfranchised Natives here in Canada I realized that it is not that the majority of the daily public did not care (as they drank their Tim Hortons or Starbucks while bopping along to their iPod or on their Blackberry)- it was that they were wrapped up unaware in the rights they enjoy daily. They simply cannot understand the evil and oppression others are subjected to worldwide.
We all must strive for ideals and benchmarks for human rights and Bloggers Unite is an uplifting experience for us. Kudos to all involved and who answered the call.
